AGUSTAWESTLAND - PUTTING CUSTOMERS FIRST

AgustaWestland remains at the vanguard of delivering excellence in rotary platforms. Since its formation in 2001, AgustaWestland has continued its excellent customer performance with impressive results. The Anglo-Italian Company is increasing its achievements across the range of engineering, industrial, financial and commercial sectors whilst closely focusing on its customers. In 2001, the consolidated revenues of AgustaWestland were in excess of $2.5 billion and the order book stood at $7.6 billion at year-end. AgustaWestland became fully operational on February 12 2001 and the completion followed both the agreement drawn up by Finmeccanica SpA of Italy and GKN plc of the UK in July 2000 and the subsequent European regulatory approvals. The Company is 50% each owned by Finmeccanica and GKN. Worldwide, AgustaWestland and its subsidiary companies employ some 9500 personnel with major operations in Italy, UK, Belgium and USA.

AgustaWestland's commercial performance has established the Company as a global leader in the international rotorcraft industry. Commercial success has been achieved with products and services meeting a wide spectrum of customer needs and these include the EH101, for example, which is now the benchmark for multi-role medium-lift helicopters. EH101 was originally designed as a modern successor to the H-3 Sea King and entered service in 1998 with the UK Royal Navy. In addition to the Royal Navy, it is now in service with the UK Royal Air Force, Italian Navy, Canadian Armed Forces and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. The Governments of Denmark and Portugal have also ordered 14 and 12 aircraft respectively. The total fleet has over 27,000 flying hours experience to date with 128 aircraft ordered and over 80 have now been delivered.

During 2002, Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland signed a 10-year definitive agreement to jointly market, produce and support the EH101 in the United States. The US101, an American version of the versatile EH101, will be initially offered to three key markets where there are emerging opportunities: U.S. Air Force Combat Search and Rescue, U.S. Coast Guard civilian Search and Rescue, and U.S. Marine Corps executive transport. This agreement builds on more than a decade of successful teamwork in the United Kingdom where Lockheed Martin and AgustaWestland have collaborated to produce the Merlin HM Mk1, a maritime version of the EH101 for the UK's Royal Navy. The Air transportability of the US101 was successfully verified during 2002 in trials which demonstrated that the aircraft can be prepared for air transportation and loaded into a C-17 Globemaster III in less than 2.5 hours.

Through a range of strategic partnerships with other leading helicopter manufacturers, AgustaWestland is now able to offer an unrivalled range of products that can satisfy the most diverse requirements of civil and military customers. The agreements with Lockheed Martin, for example, form part of a coherent strategy to further meet customer needs by adding to the global AgustaWestland network of collaborations. These collaborations have further strengthened the product range, increased global reach and greatly increased the range of choice for customers around the world. AgustaWestland continues to maintain a very strong relationship with Boeing on the AH Mk1 Apache programme for the UK's Ministry of Defence. Bell and Agusta have formed a corporation called Bell Agusta Aerospace Company (BAAC) that is 55% owned by Bell and 45% by Agusta to develop the new AB139 and BA609.

AgustaWestland recognises the strategic importance of research to develop leading edge solutions for future customers. By harnessing its combined strengths in key helicopter technologies, AgustaWestland offers a unique platform from which to deliver outstanding benefits for customers based on long-term investment. AgustaWestland embodies the complementary nature of Agusta and Westland's expertise, resources and experience that is geared to future innovation, growth and excellent product quality.

AgustaWestland has an established product base ranging from the innovative 2.5 ton light single-engine A119 Koala to the 15-ton three-engine EH101 helicopter. Other products include the A109 Power and A109K2 light twins, the medium-lift AB412, the A129 Mangusta, the twin engine Super Lynx multi-role helicopter and the 9 ton NH90, in which Agusta has a 32% stake. By investing in both collaborations and the future product base, AgustaWestland has world-class solutions in development that will spearhead its ability to offer future customers a complete range of modern systems for their wide ranging needs. Examples of such solutions include the AB139 and the Super Lynx 300, which has already received orders from Malaysia, Oman and Thailand and is now in production.

Its product portfolio furnishes innovative integrated platforms that can be adapted to a wide range of missions. AgustaWestland recognises that its challenge is to continually meet customers' needs effectively as well as leading a visionary view of future rotorcraft demands.
