Helicopters New Zealand Purchases Second AW139

AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that Helicopters New Zealand (Helicopters NZ) has ordered a second AW139. The company, located at Nelson Airport, has been operating helicopters for over 50 years and has extensive experience performing a wide range of missions including the support of mining, construction, electricity, agricultural and offshore oil development, as well as performing firefighting and tourist flying.

While awaiting delivery of its first AW139, the decision to purchase an additional AW139 highlights Helicopters NZ's confidence in the AW139 and its multi-role capabilities. Helicopters NZ will use the two AW139s to perform offshore oil transport and support tasks.

With almost 220 orders from more than 70 customers in more than 30 countries, the AW139 has set the new standard in the medium twin class. The AW139 can be equipped for a wide range of roles including EMS/SAR, offshore transport, utility and VIP/Corporate transport.

The Queensland Government and CHC in Australia have already selected the AW139 for EMS and SAR operations. Helicopters NZ will be the first operator of the AW139 in New Zealand and this additional aircraft order comes as many other operators in Australasia are looking at the AW139 to meet their varied requirements for a medium twin-engine helicopter.
