Sepura's first-ever sales win in Namibia has taken the total number of countries where TETRA has been adopted to one hundred, according to figures issued by the TETRA Association.

Sepura, which has customers in more than 90 countries, has played a lead role to achieve this milestone. During the past year, Sepura has had other first-ever sales wins in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Macedonia, Pakistan and India.

European countries now account for just over a third of all TETRA markets. This presence is beginning to be mirrored across the Middle East and Asia Pacific, while Africa and Latin America provide further scope for growth.

Graham Matthews, Chief Executive Officer at Sepura, praised the ‘100' achievement, saying: "TETRA and Sepura continue to make their mark around the world. There is more progress to be made with at least another 100 countries where TETRA could be deployed, along with the scope to increase our penetration within each country."

The contract with the Government of Namibia is for operational use in the Windhoek region. The order was secured by Artevea Digital, which is providing the network infrastructure.

Tim Mills, Sepura's Regional Sales Director for Africa, added: "This is an important step forward for Sepura in Africa as the growth of TETRA in many countries across the continent begins to take shape."

This initial TETRA deployment in Namibia will eventually expand to cover all of the country's 13 regions. The network was installed and commissioned by Teltech, Artevea's Namibian Distributor.

Stuart Will, Artevea Ltd's Head of Sales, said: "We have worked with Sepura on many projects and knew that the radios would work successfully on our network, and provide the best fit for this end-user's needs."
