AgustaWestland Starts Work On A New Customer Support Centre In Brazil
AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that its Brazilian subsidiary AgustaWestland Do Brasil Ltda has started building an all new Customer Support Centre in San Paulo to support its rapidly growing fleet of commercial helicopters in Brazil and surrounding countries.
The new site, located approximately 30 km west of the city centre, will offer a complete range of support services including maintenance, logistics, spares, repair and overhaul and customization for the AW119, all variants of the AW109, Grand and AW139. The site in San Paulo was selected for being close to the greatest number of operators as well as for its accessibility and space for future expansion.
The new state-of-the-art Customer Support Centre, which will be operational in early 2010, will cover an area 53,000 m2 (570,000 ft2) and includes a 5,100 m2 (55,000 ft2) hangar and spares warehouse facility. The new site will employee more people and benefit from a much larger stock of spare parts to ensure customers have even better "local� spare parts availability and increased responsiveness. This new facility provides 300% more space than the existing facility that it will replace and allows for further expansion in the future.
The new Brazilian site is part of the AgustaWestland's ongoing customer focused strategy to expand the company's in-country presence to get closer to its customers and to deliver the customised services they require to ensure maximum aircraft availability.
Building an all new expanded Customer Support Centre in Brazil is the latest step in the continued growth of AgustaWestland's support services worldwide. The facility in Brazil follows recent major expansion work and investment at the company's Logistic Centres in Italy, Belgium, the USA and Malaysia, with which the new facility in San Paulo will be networked.
AgustaWestland has achieved major success and increasing market share in Brazil in recent years with its commercial helicopter range and the company sees significant business opportunities in the future. Orders for around 130 AgustaWestland helicopters of various types have been placed by customers in Brazil so far for a number of roles including VIP/corporate transport, offshore transport and EMS.
