TIMET receives ‘Premier GKN Aerospace Supplier' award
• Exceptional service recognised at company's 5th supplier awards to be held at Farnborough Airshow
At a breakfast reception at Farnborough International on Wednesday 11th July, 2012, attended by many of the company's suppliers, GKN Aerospace awarded Titanium Metals Corporation (TIMET) the accolade ‘Premier Supplier' for the exceptional level of its support to the company throughout 2011.
TIMET produces and distributes titanium ingot and mill product to GKN Aerospace's North America and European operations, demonstrating consistently high levels of customer support, quality and delivery.
Rob Soen, Vice President, Supply Chain Management, GKN Aerospace explains: "We have an excellent relationship with TIMET, who won a Certificate of Recognition from us in our 2010 awards. We feel they really go that extra mile, working with us to develop effective and creative solutions that drive the very best value for our customers."
GKN Aerospace presented four further awards to high achieving suppliers and to one individual from its global supplier base.
Acme Industries Inc - Regional Supplier - North America, has provided over 10,000 precision milling and turning products, completely defect free, over the past three years, adding a 100% delivery rating to this performance in the last 12 months. Over 18 years as a valued supplier to GKN, Acme has always been extremely quality conscious and highly technically proficient, demonstrating a consistently positive attitude towards new challenges and a total commitment to GKN supply chain initiatives and programmes.
Magellan Aerospace - Lean & Innovation Award, supplier of machined aerostructure components and assemblies, received this award for the way they have embraced the GKN lean supply chain initiative. They have worked closely with the GKN team to identify and implement lean projects within their facilities, delivering significant cost reductions and efficiency improvements to both Magellan and GKN Aerospace. Magellan Aerospace was winner of the 2010 award for environmental achievement for their investigation of non-solvent based paints and investment in new anodic treatment processes.
Fokker Elmo - Regional Supplier - Europe, provides electrical harnesses to the Filton site. Their excellent (100%) delivery and quality performance and highly effective communication with GKN throughout 2011 gained them this award. This excellent record was maintained despite their transfer of some production to a facility in China and requests from GKN Aerospace to ‘pull forward' supply on several occasions through the year.
An individual performance award also went to Stuart Rice, owner of I Want My Travel (IWMT), for his consistently outstanding performance providing a corporate travel service. Mr Rice and his company responded consistently to schedule changes, provided travel plans with alternative options and maximise savings for the company. Through the excellence and professionalism of his service, Mr Rice has grown his business with GKN Aerospace - North America over a number of years. GKN believes the service he offers is of a level rarely seen in today's business travel environment.
GKN Aerospace also presented three ‘Certificates of Recognition' acknowledging the consistent commitment and support of three additional suppliers: Terry Kaller of Notthoff Engineering, OGMA Aerostructures and Gardener Ilkeston.
