World's First Fully Deployable CT Scanner on Display at DSEI 2013

For the first time at DSEI, being held at London's Excel centre from 10th to 13th September, a deployable CT scanner will be on display. The unit, loaned by the UK Ministry of Defence, is being shown by Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group (Marshall ADG) and Philips Healthcare on stand N8-287 in the newly established medical and disaster relief area.

The CT Scanner features the Philips Brilliance CT 64 scanner providing medical teams deployed anywhere in the world with a full body CT scan capability much earlier in the care chain. This will lead to even more effective patient treatment and potentially increased levels of survival.

Combining leading edge multi-slice CT technologies from Philips Healthcare with Marshall ADG's skills in integrating complex equipment into standard ISO container sized shelters; the CT Scanner can be transported by road, rail, sea or air. It can withstand and operate in the most severe physical and climatic conditions providing reliable and sustained CT capability anywhere there is a need. For military users this means CT scanning capability is available much further forward in the battlefield than ever before. The patented design with a fixed CT gantry can be setup by two people and made ready for scanning in less than four hours.

The CT scanner, in service with not only the UK but also with Norway and France, underwent an extensive programme of tests to ensure that it could withstand the rigours of any military deployment including on and off road mobility trials, over a month of climatic trials from -32oC to + 550C and rain and dust penetration tests.
