FEC launch new solar & wind power charging capability for HeliLight at Helitech
Stand Number E01
At this year's Helitech International 2015, FEC Heliports are launching a new solar & wind power charging capability for their internationally successful HeliLight Portable LED Helipad Lighting System.

Back in 2013, in response to the need to increase operational hours and night flying, FEC introduced the HeliLight Portable Battery Powered LED Helipads Lighting System. Two years on, the system is further improved with the introduction of a solar & wind power charging capability, which means that operators are now even less dependent on logistical back up and are able to operate for longer and in ever more remote environments.

HeliLights are already successful with International Air Ambulance Services as they offer a number of key features; they are truly portable, night vision goggle compliant with both visible and IR LED's, and can be operated with remote wireless control from the aircraft when combined with the FEC Remote Lighting Controller or by remote control on the ground. They can be charged in the case from either mains at 100-240V AC, or in vehicles at 13.5-28V DC and now by solar or wind power.

HeliLights are currently providing remote location landing zone lighting at over 30 sites in the UK and have become the portable landing light of choice.

"They (HeliLights) play a vital part of the lifeline required to deliver health care to remote and rural Scotland" - Scottish Air Ambulance.

Also on the stand this year is the FEC Remote Lighting Controller (RLC).

Effective operator or pilot control of helipad lighting is critical to the safe operation of an installation and traditional Radio Pilot Controlled Lighting (PCL) solutions using the VHF radio is a tried and trusted method. FEC's RLC integrates both traditional VHF PCL and adds SMS control and monitoring with the option of automatic weather reporting (wind speed/direction, temperature, dew point and pressure) right from the helipad. Its full digital design, that combines ease of installation and use, with sophisticated yet simple and secure configuration via the IP65 rated keypad and LCD display or via SMS.

There are three microcontrollers dedicated to making RLC both powerful but incredibly easy to use, everything can be securely configured (there are three levels of PIN code protection) through the front panel. Many parameters such as frequencies, timeout periods, operating modes, relay testing and system diagnostics can be checked, monitored and changed via simple text messages (using the same secure PIN codes). FEC's RLC is ideal for remote locations with limited or no mains power. The unit runs either from its internal 110-240V AC Power Supply Unit but can also run on 12V DC and with its incredibly low 2 Watt standby power consumption is ideal for operating from batteries charged by solar or wind generators.

DeVore Aviation will be guests on the FEC Heliports stand (E01). President of Devore, Mr Tom Littleford will be on hand to discuss the Devore Aviation heliport specific visual approach slope indicator the HAPI - PLASI. The HAPI-PLASI is a fully ICAO compliant. The system is a single box, 4 sector active pulsing signal. Pulsing Green Above, Solid Green On Course, Solid Red Below, and Pulsing Red Well Below. With optional rotating turntable, directional variation of approach can range within 350 degrees. The optional radio receiver system allows the pilots to control three (3) pre-selected approach paths into the Heliport with no modifications to the helicopter.

All products are available for demonstration from members of the FEC team at Helitech International on Stand EO1 from the 6th to th 8th October, 2015 London Excel. UK.
