Smiths Detection announces substantial orders for X-ray inspection equipment from Turkey and Sultanate of Oman
HI-SCAN x-ray inspection systems for passenger checkpoints, hold baggage and cargo screening applications
October 10, 2005, Wiesbaden, Germany - Smiths Detection, the world's leading provider of X-ray and trace detection equipment, today announced the receipt of substantial orders for its HI-SCAN X-ray inspection systems and Heimann Cargo Vision, HCV-Mobile 3.8 MeV, equipment from Turkey and the Sultanate of Oman. These systems will be deployed for airport security and border protection applications to screen passenger baggage and check trucks for contraband. The contracts in total are valued at more than EUR 5 million. Delivery will start and conclude in early 2006.
Part of the orders are HI-SCAN 6040i systems for the inspection of carry-on baggage plus HI-SCAN 9075 and HI-SCAN 10080 EDtS system types for checked baggage. The EDtS is especially designed for automatic explosives detection in hold baggage.
