Anduril Industries to Provide Advanced Force Protection Technology to UK Ministry of Defence’s TALOS Program

Anduril has been awarded a £3.8M (US$5.2M) contract for up to two years through the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Strategic Command’s Innovation Hub (jHub) to demonstrate advanced, multi-domain, integrated force protection technology. The award is part of TALOS, an MOD program focused on accelerating a defense-wide approach to integrated command and control.

Through the TALOS program, the MOD will leverage Anduril’s cutting-edge technology for base defense, protecting personnel and infrastructure from a rapidly evolving set of threats. The system uses Anduril’s Lattice artificial intelligence operating system and a network of sensors to autonomously detect, classify and track targets. The technology alerts operators to threats from ground intrusion or unmanned aerial systems and presents options for mitigation or engagement. TALOS is the first time that all of Anduril’s products and technology including Sentry Towers, ground sensors, Ghost 4 Drones and the Lattice AI operating system, will be deployed together with the UK MOD.

The novel subscription contract vehicle enables Anduril to continue to develop, test and deploy new capabilities for its family of Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) and Counter Intrusion solutions far more quickly than the traditional timeline, reducing costs and ensuring greater flexibility for MOD customers.

“The partnership between Anduril and jHub is an example of government and private sector successfully — and rapidly — moving emerging tech from a pilot project to a programme to improve the operation of our Armed Forces,” said Paul Hollingshead, Anduril’s Head of UK and NATO at Anduril. “As the UK meets the challenges of constant competition, base security threats will continue to evolve and require a flexible and adaptable technology approach to meet them. With the TALOS programme, Anduril will deliver immediate, scalable, multi-domain autonomous defence capabilities for one of the UK’s critical overseas bases.”

The TALOS program deepens Anduril’s partnership with UK StratCom, expanding how Anduril technology can meet existing force protection requirements with AI-powered hardware and software solutions. The Anduril force protection family of systems provides autonomous, actionable, real-time intelligence derived from a fusion of multiple sensors. With edge-based processing, automated sensor exploitation, and multi-sensor fusion, Anduril’s products provide an autonomous, end-to-end force protection system that reduces the cognitive burden on human operators, freeing them for higher priority tasks.

“This state-of-the-art technology will give our serving men and women help by identifying and assessing external threats in nanoseconds,” said General Sir Patrick Sanders, Commander of UK Strategic Command. “The artificial intelligence at the heart of this system has great potential to protect our people and sites. It’s another success for our innovation team at jHub, working closely with Anduril to help create a bespoke system, from idea to implementation at pace, to meet the specific requirements of our Armed Forces.”
